AECOM announced today that it has formed a partnership with the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), an independent, not-for-profit organization that works to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and drive sustainable water use by business and cities, on its global cities program.
As part of the partnership, AECOM will volunteer its expertise in data analysis, communications and visualization techniques to support the CDP in producing its 2012 cities report. The report will analyze the responses of more than 70 large cities to CDP’s annual reporting process. The CDP cities program provides a voluntary disclosure platform on climate change related activities from municipal governments around the world, including the majority of the world’s 40 largest cities.
“We are delighted to partner with CDP on its cities program,” said John M. Dionisio, AECOM chairman and chief executive officer. “AECOM recognizes the importance of cities in meeting global challenges, especially as urban population growth accelerates and increases demands on municipal services and the need to manage resources in a sustainable manner.”
“Sustainability is about mastering complexity in ways that optimize conditions for human development,” said Gary Lawrence, AECOM vice president and chief sustainability officer. “AECOM brings considerable expertise to the challenge of complexity on behalf of clients and communities and we are pleased to bring our expertise to bear on our partnership with CDP.”
“We selected AECOM as our analysis partner due to their analytical capabilities and the importance they place on good design and visualization, as well as their expertise in working with cities around the world on climate change issues,” said Conor Riffle, head of CDP’s cities program.
CDP’s 2012 cities report will be published in early June 2012.
