LOS ANGELES (April 23, 2018) — AECOM, a premier, fully integrated global infrastructure firm, announced today that it has published its fifth-annual safety, health and environment (SH&E) report, “Nine Ways to Zero.” Offering insights on the company’s fiscal year (FY) 2017 safety performance, the report tells the story of how AECOM’s nine Life-Preserving Principles lay the foundation for its award-winning safety culture.
“I’m pleased to share our FY17 safety report, which spotlights our global commitment to safety in all aspects of our work,” said Michael S. Burke, AECOM’s chairman and chief executive officer. “Achieving our strongest safety year yet is a result of our outstanding employees and their pledge to our evolving safety culture, and further demonstrates our dedication toward best-in-class performance for our partners and clients.”
This year’s report theme, “Nine Ways to Zero,” showcases 2017 as a historic year for AECOM, during which three projects received perfect Project Safety Review scores as a result of exceptional focus on each principle. These award winning principles are featured in AECOM’s recently launched digital Safety Playbook, which helps its project teams perform work safely wherever they are across the globe. These principles cover both the day-to-day and long-term commitments to safety. They are active during the full life of operations from start to finish and set AECOM’s safety culture apart from industry competitors.
“Safety remains a critical component to our overall success and 2017 was an excellent year for safety at AECOM,” said Andy Peters, AECOM’s senior vice president and chief safety officer. “I’m proud to provide this update on AECOM’s most recent safety efforts and achievements, and to celebrate the more than 87,000 professionals and staff on their accomplishments this past year.”
