AECOM reappointed to Transport for Greater Manchester Professional Services Framework

The award further strengthens AECOM’s commitment to the region and TfGM’s ambition for a carbon neutral network.

MANCHESTER (June 18, 2025) — AECOM, the trusted global infrastructure leader, today announced it has been reappointed to Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) Professional Services Framework. The four-year framework will centre on the delivery of a wide range of transport projects and programmes across Greater Manchester to support the delivery of the UK’s first fully integrated, zero-emission public transport network by 2030.

AECOM has supported TfGM since its inception in 2008 and has a strong track record, having delivered key schemes such the Metrolink Enabling Plan, and the consultancy is currently supporting delivery of Bury Interchange and the Bus and Streets for All Programme. The works support TfGM’s ambition of 50% of all journeys in Greater Manchester being made by walking, cycling and public transport by 2040.

“Transport continues to be a catalyst to connect communities, accelerate sustainable ways of living and unlock economic growth across the North of England and beyond,” said Frank Mohan, Regional Director, AECOM. “With increasing autonomy through devolution, the potential for local and regional authorities in developing infrastructure continues to grow. AECOM’s long-standing commitment to Greater Manchester with our full breadth of multidisciplinary skills, means we are perfectly placed to support in delivering Greater Manchester’s vision of ‘world class connections that support long-term, sustainable economic growth and access to opportunity for all’.”

The news strengthens AECOM’s relationship with Greater Manchester. The consulting firm employs almost 600 people at its Manchester office and, in March, announced it joined Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham in strengthening ties between Greater Manchester and Austin, Texas.

AECOM was successful on seven lots including advising on policy and strategy, business cases, modelling, economics, research, consultation, rail and delivery of the Streets for All programme. The framework is open to TfGM, all ten Greater Manchester local authorities, as well as public bodies across the North and the Midlands.
