AECOM to provide procurement services for critical UK aid

AECOM has launched a new service that will help the UK Government deliver critical aid around the world. From today, the AECOM-led alliance Delivering Procurement Services for Aid (DPSA) will support the Department for International Development (DFID) with its global procurement and logistics requirements.

Procuring goods and equipment, supported by a reliable supply chain, is critical for delivering aid programmes worldwide. DPSA will manage the sourcing, contracting and delivery of much-needed items including power-generation equipment, vehicles, communications and IT hardware, pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, laboratory appliances, educational tools and shelters.

Steve Morriss, Chief Executive – Europe, Middle East, India and Africa, AECOM, said: “With much development assistance now earmarked for fragile and conflict-affected states, sourcing and logistics are getting tougher. Together with our partners, we’re delighted to apply our expertise in procurement, supply-chain management, international development and crisis management to help the UK Government deliver critical aid when and where it is needed around the world.”

DPSA is delivered with support from partners TWI and Damco. TWI provides industry-leading supply-chain capabilities, and experience of serving construction, infrastructure, energy, logistics and distribution, and government customers on five continents. Damco is one of the world’s leading providers of freight forwarding and supply-chain management services, with experience of operating in high-risk markets. DPSA is further supported by Eagle Scientific, a global provider of medical, educational and vocational solutions, and Olive Group, which helps DPSA with its risk and security needs.

DPSA offers a simple and easy process for procuring goods and equipment for DFID. Dedicated Customer Relationship Managers (CRMs) provide a single point of contact for DFID country offices, programme suppliers, partner organisations and governments. Each region’s CRM will develop the most appropriate procurement and logistics plan to meet their customers’ needs, providing real-time data on orders throughout the procurement lifecycle.

DPSA will connect to all DFID target countries through its Dubai headquarters and London office. With its partners, DPSA will source and deliver goods and equipment, pairing best-value suppliers with customers to minimise costs and transit times.

Darron Cox, Chief Executive, DPSA, said: “DPSA is committed to understanding DFID’s varying needs and the environment in which its staff operate. Our dedicated team will source the best products to meet DFID’s requirements from the local and global marketplace, always seeking to achieve value for money, deliver in a timely manner and overcome challenging local circumstances.”

DPSA works to clear and transparent processes and has a zero-tolerance policy for corruption. Understanding the wider context within which it sources products and services is vital, given today’s increasingly complex supply chains that often span several countries and a multitude of organisations. DPSA respects fundamental international standards against criminal conduct, such as modern slavery, corruption, bribery or harmful environmental and social impacts.

AECOM and its DPSA partners are long-standing signatories of the UN Global Compact.
