Fusion has appointed global integrated infrastructure services company AECOM as lead designers for its HS2 Phase One activity. AECOM will draw on its wide experience of delivering high speed rail projects globally, including extensive involvement in Spain’s high speed rail network, Crossrail, and other schemes in more than 20 countries.
Dr. Mark Raiss, Engineering Director — Civil Infrastructure, Europe, Middle East, India and Africa, AECOM, said: “This is an opportunity for AECOM to bring its global high speed rail capability to a landmark UK project of national importance, working with Fusion to support HS2’s vision of making the project a catalyst for growth across Britain. Our work with Fusion builds on the long-standing collaborative relationships that we have with all three JV partners.”
Fusion comprises three of Europe’s leading infrastructure companies, Morgan Sindall, BAM, and Ferrovial. The joint venture has formed primarily to bid for contracts on the HS2 rail scheme including enabling works, surface route, viaducts, and tunnels. Fusion combines each company’s expertise in design, construction and innovation in a collaboration that is uniquely equipped to deliver the complex infrastructure and community solutions required for HS2. The joint venture’s ultimate aim is to connect people and communities to support and stimulate business growth – both through HS2 and other pioneering infrastructure programmes.
