Peninsula Transport is one of the two sub-national transport bodies (STBs) in the South West of England. The Peninsula Transport STB formed at the end of 2018 with a membership of five local authorities: Cornwall Council, Devon County Council, Plymouth City Council, Somerset County Council and Torbay Council. It is one of seven STBs covering England and provides a regional voice to Government on transport investment and policy priorities.
AECOM is providing support to the organisation in developing its scheme priorities for transport funding.
An economic connectivity study was developed as a first step in the development of a long-term transport strategy and has focussed on some of the key trends which will influence future travel in the region. Responding to this work, the STB has committed to a transition to a low carbon transport system at the heart of its strategy.
AECOM is continuing to support Peninsula Transport on its transport strategy vision, freight strategy and the full transport strategy, which are due for publication in 2021.
