AECOM provided design services to improve a number of substandard features located at the 100-year-old bridge in Greenwich. Connecticut, which carries the Metro-North Railroad over Arch Street. In addition, the Greenwich Train Station was upgraded to be fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. This included the design of a new, elevated pedestrian bridge with stair structures and elevators to provide access between inbound and outbound platforms.

By developing several innovative approaches, AECOM was able to overcome a number of complexities associated with the project. The solutions that were developed reduced the project construction cost and expedited the schedule. This savings also allowed the town’s residents to experience high-quality, aesthetically pleasing structures while maintaining the owner’s needs and budget.

The project received the Engineering Excellence Award by the American Council of Engineering Companies of Connecticut.
