To enhance growth and economic viability, Hong Kong needed to secure a reliable supply of aviation fuel, covering not only the 1,000 flights that operate from Hong Kong Airport every day but also future aviation demand.

AECOM was appointed as construction manager on the development of a single-purpose aviation fuel storage facility which would replace the fuel receiving facility off Sha Chau Island. AECOM provided a full-time project team to support the construction works. Our role was later extended to provide advice on claim resolution and post-construction services.

Components of the project include a twin-head jetty receiving facility adjacent to the storage tank farm, a twin 7-km-long submarine pipeline for the delivery of aviation fuel, connection of new submarine pipelines and tank farm of 140,000 cubic metre storage capacity, as well as civil infrastructure works including bunding, paving, drainage and fencing.
