The review focuses on AECOM’s innovative, sustainable solutions, which address meeting environmental challenges; keeping employees, clients and partners safe; contributing time and funds to support important causes throughout communities worldwide; and serving AECOM clients with the highest ethical standards.
“AECOM’s commitment to environmental sustainability, community initiatives and programs, while fostering a diverse workforce, is exemplified throughout the report and showcases the company’s engagement in all elements of corporate citizenship,” said Greg Sauter, executive vice president and chief corporate officer.
Highlights from the report include:
- AECOM’s global commitment to providing support for natural disaster recovery is extended by employee volunteers. Steve Willey, AECOM construction manager, helped to save victims in the aftermath of the earthquake in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. In response to the floods that devastated Pakistan, offices collected donations of blankets, clothing, shoes and non-perishable food items to be sent to local agencies for distribution; monetary donations were also matched by AECOM.
- For the past decade, employees in North America have participated in CANstruction, a design-build competition that challenges teams to exhibit their design and engineering skills by creating sculptures made of canned goods. Dedicated to relieving hunger in communities around the world, the cans used in the competition are donated to local food banks for distribution to community emergency-feeding programs.
- AECOM partners with Engineers Without Borders to help advance its mission of establishing a more stable and prosperous world by addressing people’s basic human needs — providing necessities such as clean water, power, sanitation and education.
- Water for People is a cause championed by AECOM and supported by its employees through donated pro-bono work and voluntary payroll deductions. A team of AECOM employees helped construct a water system with two, 10,000-liter tanks, as well as the associated distribution and installation of piping and pumping equipment for the El Rosario, Guatemala, community. The team also provided the community with educational information and advice on public hygiene.
