The awards recognize innovative programs in five categories that protect health and the environment, educate the public, serve their communities and boost the economy
Club Ride Commuter Services is a free program of the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada that is designed to improve air quality and encourage commute alternatives such as riding transit, carpooling, walking, bicycling and telecommuting, among others. AECOM’s team in Nevada ran the program and delivered services including commuter outreach, program marketing, database management and reporting, partnership development, commuter reporting technology and incentive fulfilment.
The Club Ride program was recognized under the Community Action category for its outreach to a large number of employers and commuters in Clark County, Nevada, which included developing various modes for people to report their work commutes such as touchscreen kiosks at 86 partner worksites, a mobile app, text reporting and online reporting, among others.
To meet the goals of the program, project stakeholders partnered with nearly 300 employers and more than 24,000 registered commuters in Clark County on initiatives designed to improve air quality. Program highlights in 2014 included 59 tons of carbon monoxide emissions reduced, 2,324 tons of greenhouse gases reduced, more than one million clean commute trips reported, 5.9 million miles removed from the road, and $1.6 million in commuter cost savings.
“We are excited to be included in the excellent company of this year’s award winners, and grateful to the EPA for recognizing our efforts in improving air quality,” said AECOM’s Diane Hanson, project manager.
