Our architecture, engineering, and landscape architecture design team worked closely with the Lakeland Community College faculty and administration to develop an iconic building at the main entry to the Lakeland campus.

The project consists of a 75,000 SF addition and the complete renovation of the 52,000 SF Health Technologies Building. The project program consists of teaching laboratories, classrooms, office space, and public spaces. A large, three-story atrium acts as a new campus hub that binds the original building and new addition to the main campus buildings. AECOM is coordinating with both the CM and College to develop a phased delivery of the renovation for the existing building. Due to the fact that the building was fully occupied during the renovation, a five-step process was designed to allow for the building to remain functional while the work is being completed.

The project received a LEED gold rating and incorporated many forward thinking energy saving technologies. The building also houses the “HIVE,” a 10,000 SF Innovation/Makerspace that will be open to both the college and public.
