Mercy Medical Center selected AECOM to design a new replacement hospital in the heart of downtown Baltimore via a design competition. The 17-story, 700,000 gross-square-foot building replaces clinical functions performed in aging existing facilities and serves as a new “front door” for the urban campus. Extensive landscape areas, including a series of roof gardens, enhances the connection between nature and healing, and serves as a visual link between the adjacent historic park.

Mercy will phase the relocation of its clinical services over the next decade, and the building is being designed to provide the flexibility needed to accommodate this phased relocation approach.
