DALLAS (December 12, 2023) — AECOM, the world’s trusted infrastructure consulting firm, today announced it has been selected to provide program management services to Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) in support of facility upgrades, renovations, additions and new construction projects across the district. AECOM has supported the district over the past 60 years across various projects, including Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) upgrades, sitework improvements and deferred maintenance projects.

“We’re honored to continue our relationship with Miami-Dade School District and share its commitment to providing the best facilities for students, teachers, and the community,” said Bane Gaiser, chief executive of AECOM’s U.S. East and Latin America region. “With our local knowledge, deep expertise in K-12 educational program management and long-standing relationship with Miami-Dade County, we’re excited to work hand-in-hand with the district to implement this critical work.”

Under this five-year contract, AECOM will support the district in the oversight and coordination of design and construction throughout the project lifecycle. This includes managing the procurement of design and construction professionals, contractor prequalification, project scoping, and scheduling. Once completed, the improvements will address expanding facility capacity, enhance safety, and provide technology upgrades.

Equity, diversity, and inclusion (ED&I) will be a core pillar of the project. AECOM is committed to support the district in reaching its minority-and women-owned business enterprise (MWBE) participation goals.

“As a national leader in K-12 program management, we’ve developed proven approaches focused on collaboration, communication, and cost-consciousness,” said Suhas Mengale, senior vice president and Program and Project Management leader, U.S. East. “We’re especially committed to meeting or exceeding the MWBE utilization goals the district has set and look forward to delivering equity, quality and value across this program.”

Serving 331,000 students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, Miami-Dade County Public Schools is the third largest school district in the United States. These renovations are part of a capital improvement program (CIP) valued at over $900 million over the next five years. By replacing and updating aging schools across the district, the program seeks to provide students with more equitable access to facilities that support cutting-edge academic programming.
