In partnership with the Army Cyber Institute at West Point and the City of Houston, AECOM will host Jack Voltaic 2.0
HOUSTON (July 26, 2018) — AECOM, a premier, fully integrated global infrastructure firm, announced today the launch of its National Preparedness offering. The new approach is underpinned by AECOM’s Converged Resilience model, an integrated risk management framework that combines a deep technical understanding of how infrastructure works with leading cybersecurity expertise to assess the physical and cyber risk for cities from a cyber-attack.
“Infrastructure resilience has grown beyond the responsibility of solely an Information Technology (IT) department or sustainability specialists, and what our cities need is an integrated risk management framework that is adaptive to the rapidly evolving threat to urban communities,” said Ronald Hahn, AECOM’s executive vice president of critical infrastructure protection strategies. “Given the evolving nature of physical and cyber risk, everyone has a role to play in protecting our critical infrastructure – from the U.S. Federal Government to the local police department, from federal leaders to first responders. Our Converged Resilience offering brings federal resources together with local first responders to create a bottom-up approach working towards the protection of our cities, our infrastructure, our businesses and our communities.”
AECOM’s National Preparedness service offering brings together its vast experience with both the United States (U.S.) Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security as well as its industry-leading cyber security expertise in the design, construction and operation of secure infrastructure assets for public and private-sector clients worldwide.
With the launch of this new infrastructure resilience framework, Army Cyber Institute at West Point, in partnership with AECOM and the City of Houston, are hosting Jack Voltaic 2.0 – an innovative public-private exercise designed to develop a municipal-level response framework and integrate local, state and federal assets. The goal of the simulation is to build greater understanding of existing cybersecurity capabilities as well as identify gaps. The City of Houston, State of Texas and federal agencies will use this research to better understand, prepare for, and respond to cyber-attacks.
