AECOM Wins Business Culture Diversity & Inclusion Award

AECOM has won the Business Culture Diversity & Inclusion Award at the Business Culture Awards 2017 held last night. The award recognises organisations that have put diversity and inclusion at the heart of their business culture with outstanding results. In addition, AECOM’s Karen Britton was Highly Commended for the Business Culture Ambassador Award.

Judges for the Business Culture Diversity & Inclusion Award looked to understand how a focus on diversity and inclusion has been enacted, and how it has resulted in a reinvigorated organisational culture that has the renewed confidence of employees and other stakeholders.

AECOM believe that an inclusive culture is a dynamic, active and intentional environment that increases individual and organisational performance by creating opportunities for all employees to achieve their full potential. The company strives to foster a workplace free from discrimination and harassment and ensuring equal opportunities in all areas of employment. A key aim for the business is ensuring all employment practices are objective and free from bias, are based solely on work criteria and individual merit, and meet the broader company objectives.

David Barwell, Chief Executive, UK & Ireland, said: “I am absolutely delighted that AECOM’s diversity and inclusion efforts were recognised at the Business Culture Awards. At AECOM, diversity and inclusion is embedded in our core values and is a key driver of our success. Our innovation is enhanced by our ability to draw from a wealth of different backgrounds and experiences. Our diversity also enables us to better understand our clients and the communities in which we live and work.”

The Business Culture Awards gives forward-thinking organisations a way to celebrate work which sets up their employees to succeed – recognising how their people’s employment experience is fundamental to business performance. The awards were held at the Royal Garden Hotel in London.
