The Grand parc urbain of Brossard project is part of a long-term municipal vision to provide high-quality public spaces that promote outdoor activities, active mobility, and ecological integration. Planned as early as 2015 following public consultations, the park is a major facility at the heart of a rapidly transforming sector, located near residential neighbourhoods, recreational amenities, and metropolitan transit hubs.
We were mandated to deliver Phase 3B, which corresponds to the completion of pedestrian pathways and cycling routes in the eastern section of the park. This phase aimed to provide continuity between the park chalet, the permanent retention basin, existing features from previous phases, and surrounding neighbourhoods, including Brossard-sur-le-Parc and the Gare Eco-District. The work focused on closing gaps in the active transportation network while improving wayfinding and enhancing user safety throughout the site.
The project includes the development of pedestrian pathways and bidirectional cycling paths, the integration of promenade-style lighting, the installation of urban furniture, landscaping and planting works, enhancements to planting around the basin perimeter, and signage adapted to both recreational and utilitarian uses of the park. Particular attention was given to managing existing constraints—such as topography, drainage conditions, and existing infrastructure—to provide a functional, durable design that integrates seamlessly with its environment.
With a view to diversifying park uses and enhancing animation, the mandate also included the design and implementation of a disc golf course, carefully integrated into the landscape and compatible with other site activities. The project also incorporated biodiversity zones and enhanced planting, contributing to the park’s ecological quality and design resilience.
Services delivered covered the full project lifecycle, from design through construction, including advisory services, concept development and design sketches, preparation of plans, specifications and cost estimates, support during the tendering process, as well as construction supervision and contract administration. Close coordination with municipal departments and emergency services also enabled the integration of a signage and wayfinding strategy tailored to emergency response needs.
