AECOM’s energy practice provided engineering services for the C$2-billion LG-1 hydroelectric powerhouse.

The 1368 MW powerhouse includes two gravity dams, a spillway and two dikes. Due to the occurrence of sensitive clays in the area, the location of the LG-1 run-of-the-river powerhouse required numerous geotechnical investigations.

AECOM provided the following services:

  • Preliminary studies
  • Detailed engineering for water intakes, spillway, powerhouse and dikes
  • Technical support during construction and commissioning
  • Operation manual.
