Cynthia Hartley

Cynthia Hartley is an associate vice president and project manager from our Water business line in the U.S. East region. Cynthia served as a senior advisor to the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Environmental Technologies Trade Advisory Committee (ETTAC) where she chaired the subcommittee on Climate Change and Emerging Technologies. In this role, she helped draft recommendations to assist the Export-Import bank of the United States in expanding trade and services for U.S. companies providing environmental technologies to combat climate change. Cynthia also represents AECOM as a member of the board of directors for ARISE-US, the U.S. chapter of the UN’s Private Sector Alliance for Disaster Resilient Reduction (UNDRR). In 2019, she served as a panelist during the UNDRR Global Platform’s discussion on “Integrating Disaster Risk into Business Decisions,” in which she showcased the cost-effective energy resiliency strategies AECOM implemented at San Diego International Airport. For the upcoming 2025 Global Platform in Geneva, Switzerland, Cynthia is helping organize Thematic Session 4-1 “Addressing Underlying Drivers of Risk to Strengthen Preparedness for Effective Response and Reconstruction.” Previously, she served on boards for Water for People, one of AECOM’s two charities of choice, and Helvetas USA, a Swiss NGO focused on water, sanitation, and climate change.
