Nicole Badstuber
Nicole is AECOM’s transport planner and policy advisor and is an associate director in transport planning for engineering consultants in Sydney. In this role, she manages infrastructure design and policy and leads inclusive design, which includes AECOM’s research on women’s safety when travelling. She worked on cycling projects in Sydney and Canberra and has reviewed active travel work across Australia and New Zealand. Nicole has recently applied findings from the AECOM Safe Places Survey to the city-shaping transport infrastructure project Canberra Light Rail Phase 2A in the Australian capital. This has included applying a gender-sensitive urban design lens for the project and infrastructure design and working closely with Major Project Canberra to see gender-sensitive urban design features continued in operation. Nicole is a recognized thought leader and transport professional. She is a fellow of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (FCIHT). She regularly gives evidence-based expert witness advice to the government back in her home country of the United Kingdom, most recently to the All Party Parliamentary Group on Climate Change, talking about the role of walking and cycling in supporting decarbonization and the importance of inclusive design in walking and cycling.
