Richard Barrett 

Executive Vice President, Regional Chief Executive, Canada 

Richard Barrett is the Executive Vice President, Regional Chief Executive at AECOM, the world’s trusted infrastructure consulting firm, delivering professional services throughout the project lifecycle — from advisory, planning, design and engineering to program and construction management.

Mr. Barrett is a member of AECOM’s Global Executive Leadership Team and is responsible for Canada Region operations, with a team of over 3,000 designers, engineers, planners, scientists, and project managers across the region. 

As a part of the AECOM team for over 30 years, Mr. Barrett has served in several key leadership roles, including Chief Executive for the Australia New Zealand (ANZ) business from 2020 to 2023, and Chief Operating Officer, ANZ from 2014 to 2020. 

In a career spanning more than 35 years, Mr. Barrett has served both private and public sector clients in delivering major outcome driven infrastructure projects through different forms of relationship contracting. He draws on industry experiences working across sectors including transportation, resources, defence and health. He is a former Consult Australia Champion of Change and Australian Workplace Gender Equality Agency, Pay Equity Ambassador.
