AECOM in collaboration with LS3P created a state-of-the-art indoor tennis facility at the University of Georgia, offering enhanced student-athlete amenities, improved fan experiences and a seamlessly integrated design.
The ultra-efficient new practice and competition venue features six indoor courts, spectator seating for 600 fans, and restroom and concession facilities to support both indoor and outdoor competitions. Additional program elements include new home and visiting team spaces, officials and operations program elements, and a warm-up area for student-athletes preparing to take the court.
The new facility will seamlessly integrate with the existing women’s tennis clubhouse building by including similar architectural features while maintaining and enhancing important campus pedestrian circulation networks. A new public “front door” will help connect the two facilities while anchoring the entire tennis complex providing a new image befitting of the proud history of both the men’s and women’s tennis programs. The scope of the commission also addresses site design and accessibility issues, improved “front door” image, improved first responder access and improved visitor/recruiting impressions. A new concessions area will provide indoor & outdoor accessibility for fans attending competitive events.
