Toronto subway expansion closer to reality
A construction crew completes final electrical work on one of the main lines for the Toronto York Spadina Subway Extension outside Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Both URS and AECOM were hired to provide engineering, architectural, and construction suppport services for the 8.6 km long subway extension including six new stations. Full subway service is expected to open at the end of 2017 for the $2.6 billion project. When complete, it will be the first extension to the subway network in nearly two decades, a period in which the population of the City is projected to grow by 1/2 million people.
