BRT moves more people outside Montreal
Multiple busses travel down the reserved BRT lanes away from De Le Gapp Station in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada. The Rapibus project is a bus rapid transit system for the Société de Transport de l’Outaouais (STO). AECOM was hired to provide engineering, architectural, program, and construction services for the STO in expanding the 17km route at a cost of $195 million.
The Rapibus aims to speed up the service for commuters in growing sub-divisions outside of Montreal in the northern and eastern areas of the city by alleviating the congestion on key arteries currently served by bus-designated lanes.
