Graduate Engineer, Transportation, Christchurch, NZ
I first began working for AECOM as a summer intern and was then offered a graduate position when I finished my undergraduate degree in civil engineering. I was excited as AECOM had the reputation of being the number one global design firm. One of the company’s greatest strengths is that it has a global presence and I believed this would provide me with many opportunities to work abroad and gain international experience.
I grew up in Christchurch and was unfortunate enough to experience first-hand the damage caused by major earthquakes, which reduced the city to rubble. However, since working at AECOM, I’ve had many opportunities to get involved with rebuild projects and help the city return to its glory days. I was proud to be part of the Christchurch Southern Motorway Stage 2 (CSM2) project team, where I helped deliver a key part of the government’s Roads of National Significance programme (RoNS). I got great satisfaction from being part of a project that would move people and freight more safely and efficiently. I can’t wait to see what is next.
