AECOM Tishman served as CM for the first full-block commercial building constructed on Park Avenue in nearly 60 years, the 640,000 SF 425 Park, which stands 897 feet tall and features a dynamic design by Foster + Partners.
Since the site was overbuilt according to current zoning laws, to build a tower of this size, the project had to make use of certain components of the original 1957-vintage building occupying the site. This necessitated extensive coordination between the structural design team in order to reuse existing foundations wherever possible and perform selective demolition down to the subcellar; an added layer of complexity was the building’s siting above an active Metro-North rail tunnel, which required an especially sensitive approach. 425 Park is targeting WELL certification and LEED Gold certification through features such as an advanced air filtration process and a 25% reduction in connected energy load.
