The Dulacca Wind Farm, a vital component of Queensland’s commitment to renewable energy, has been officially opened by Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and Minister for Energy, Renewables, and Hydrogen Mick de Brenni.
This project marks a significant milestone in the state’s pursuit of clean energy solutions. The wind farm, consisting of 43 wind turbines, is set to generate 180MW of clean energy, contributing to the Queensland SuperGrid and powering industries and homes across the state. AECOM was pivotal in managing environmental and planning assessments and approvals for the project, contributing to its completion. During the peak of construction, the Dulacca Wind Farm project employed 150 regional construction workers, stimulating economic growth in the area to contribute to the local community and economy.
The Dulacca Wind Farm is poised to provide Queensland with 180MW of clean and sustainable energy. This substantial power supply supports the state’s renewable energy targets and significantly lowers the cost of electricity for Queenslanders. Our involvement helped ensure that the environmental and regulatory considerations were effectively managed throughout the project’s development and approval phases.
Acting as the Principal Consultant, AECOM managed the extensive environmental and planning assessments, laying the groundwork for a sustainable wind farm. Our expertise was vital in addressing potential environmental concerns through in-depth ecological assessments, habitat mapping, field surveys, and impact assessment. Our work has contributed to minimising and mitigating environmental harm, securing approvals from regulatory bodies, including the State Assessment and Referral Agency and the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.
AECOM’s commitment to the Dulacca Wind Farm project will extend beyond its approval. We will continue to provide ecological monitoring, audits, and ad hoc advice to the project’s operational teams. Our ongoing involvement helps ensure the project remains aligned with its environmental commitments, and we remain dedicated to upholding the site’s sustainability.
