AECOM Tishman served as construction manager for the upgrade of multiple areas across the hospital’s uptown and downtown campuses.
Since these upgrades occurred across active sites, we took the utmost care to guarantee patient safety, working closely with facilities teams to schedule shutdowns around end-user needs and minimizing impact to patient-care areas.
AECOM Tishman oversaw the renovation of the 9th floor at the Herbert Irving Pavilion at NYPH’s uptown campus to provide new exam room space as well as temporary space for decants from the third floor. Work included the demolition of the south side of the floor in an active oncology patient care unit area. As part of the MEP portion, we provided two new induction units and VAV boxes to accommodate the new spaces, as well as electrical updates including electrical panels and transformers. To minimize disruption, all work was completed after normal business hours.
At our client’s Downtown Campus Annex Building, a cooling towers replacement project consisted of the upgrade of seven cooling towers with new models. Successfully completed on a tight schedule during the winter months to minimize impact on the facility, this project also included the replacement of existing grating and installation of new catwalk and handrails for future service of this equipment.
AECOM Tishman also completed the renovation of 8,200 square feet of office space for NYPH’s radiology department at Harkness Pavilion. The location made this a challenging project, since the site was above the hospital’s main uptown campus kitchen and 20 feet away from its emergency room. AECOM Tishman successfully coordinated and delivered the project on time, within budget and incident-free.
