The Pacifica Tower is New Zealand’s tallest residential building, situated in the heart of Auckland’s CBD. The 57 storey structure towers above the city’s skyline to enjoy unparalleled 360-degree views. Housing 273 apartments, retail units and commercial office space, the Pacifica offers Auckland a new benchmark in high rise city life.
AECOM was engaged by Hengyi to provide Project Management and Engineer to the Contractor services for the development.
The project faced many challenges – not only the central CBD location, but also a busy working environment with minimal space available for storage and loading. Despite these challenges, for the first time in New Zealand the contractor used a full-perimeter jumpform, encompassing all vertical structural tower elements. The jumpform climbs using electric jacks, with a single floor “jump” taking one hour. The floors and post-tensioning works are constructed within the perimeter screens hung from the jumpform. The jumpform system offers higher levels of safety and productivity, along with material and cost efficiencies.
All 57 floors of the complex are post tensioned, with the first to seventh floors spanning 1,000m² each and the eighth to 57th floors each covering 600m².
