Located in the eastern area of Taiwan, at an altitude of 185 to 410 meters in the mountain area of Zhiben, is the 20-hectare site for the Six Senses WUMA Resort. With the characteristics of a forest farm, the site and its surrounding environment is abundant in forest ecology and biodiversity.
The resort was designed to rejuvenate visitors and connect them with nature thanks to its stunning view of the surrounding valley and mountains. Aptly named “WUMA”, which translates to “home” in the local aboriginal language, it aims to create the joy and comfort of being home.
The plan for the Six Senses Wuma Resort was thoughtfully developed with the following objectives: maintain the ecological environment, respect local cultural resources, combine local agricultural resources and eco-friendly farming, promote sustainable tourism to local and international travelers, and advocate the harmonious relationship between the natural and built environment. In order to realize this concept and integrate it into a resort development, Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas collaborated with like-minded teams from around the world including Kengo Kuma and Associates (KKAA) and AECOM.
AECOM provided master planning, landscape design and multiple water resource management services, applying both our international and local technical expertise. Through clear understanding of the client’s needs, collaboration with partners, and innovation, our team demonstrated our capabilities in creating designs that integrate architecture and natural landscape, emulate a natural, calming atmosphere, promote sustainability and agriculture, and create awe-inspiring experiences.
