AECOM was once again a Gold Sponsor at this year’s Asia Pacific Rail conference, which happened at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC) in Thailand, from May 29 to 30.
Senior leaders from our Transportation team were present at the event to discuss the latest trends, challenges and opportunities in the rail industry, and its potential implications for Asia.
John Barker, Director of Global Transit – Major Projects and High Speed Rail, shared best practices with case studies and insights on high-speed rail delivery from our latest industry research in “From Vision to Reality – Exploring pathways to success for fast, modern, integrated and sustainable high-speed rail service.” Chris Lee, Executive Director of Railway Transportation for Malaysia, and Yeap BH, Technical Director, Civil, discussed their experience in “Digital adoption in the design of metro projects through regional collaborations,” while Perran Coak, Executive Director of Railway Transportation for Hong Kong, led the panel discussion on “Sustainable rail: Implementing eco-friendly practices and green technologies in rail operations and infrastructure.”
Our team was also at Booth C21 where we showcased some of our latest rail projects in Asia. These included the Bangkok Purple Line in Thailand, the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit Lines in Malaysia, the Shatin to Central Link in Hong Kong, and the Thomson East Coast Line Stage 3 (TEL3) in Singapore — all of which demonstrated massive feats in rail design, construction and engineering.
