AECOM has delivered client-side BIM Management consulting services to Multiplex on the $3.6 billion Queen’s Wharf Development in Brisbane, slated for completion in 2024.
After being awarded the project, Multiplex engaged AECOM to provide BIM advisory and management services, working closely with the end client, Destination Brisbane Consortium (DBC) and their BIM consultant, DBM Vircon, to establish project deliverables. Our team led the development and management of the Construction BIM Execution Plan (CBEP) to meet DBC’s BIM requirements.
Starting with an aspirational client BIM brief aimed at leveraging BIM throughout the design phase and incorporating an Asset Information Model (AIM) with comprehensive CoBIE data points. AECOM collaborated with the client to refine this brief, ensuring it was both detailed and realistic for a project of this scale. Importantly, we implemented a robust audit process, including self-checks and staged data delivery, to produce a comprehensive AIM. Additionally, our team developed and delivered training content, including facility training, to the project team.
To ensure compliance with the CBEP and DBC requirements, our team conducted ongoing audits of project BIM deliverables from 25 authors, covering eight zones and more than 100 BIM models.
The project team also established the use of Revizto for issues management, which was pivotal in driving coordination and tracking progress of key interfaces. This tool was utilised throughout the construction stage and completion phase to capture As-Built records and ensure alignment with model deliverable requirements.
Outcomes:
Given the vast number of deliverables, automation was essential in streamlining audits for over 100,000 registered assets within the project’s scope. To meet the required timeframes with high accuracy, our team developed a self-check digital process for the project’s consultants and customised an automation solution to audit deliverables across multiple data drops. This tailored solution, including dashboarding, effectively communicates the status of deliverables across each package.
