Pioneering digital solutions for infrastructure

AECOM’s digital services span four critical layers of infrastructure: governance and data, above-ground infrastructure, mobility networks, and below-ground infrastructure. Our expertise across these domains enables us to deliver comprehensive, data-driven solutions that support efficiency, connectivity and sustainability in infrastructure projects.

Here are a few projects that showcase our expertise in digital transformation:

  • Hong Kong 3D Digital Map: Developed for the Lands Department of Hong Kong, this platform offers high-resolution 3D visualizations that improve public access to spatial information, supporting urban development and community engagement in alignment with Hong Kong’s open data policy.
  • BIM Horizontal Harmonization: Created for the Civil Engineering and Development Department, this project standardizes BIM across major capital works, enabling streamlined integration of BIM and GIS for Hong Kong’s Smart City development.
  • Traffic and Incident Management System (TIMS): Designed for Hong Kong’s Transport Department, TIMS integrates smart mobility technologies to reduce incident response times and improve public safety.
  • 3D Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for Tuen Mun South Extension: Using our Spatial Engage platform, this project provides immersive 3D models that facilitate stakeholder engagement in EIAs, turning complex data into accessible insights.
  • Road Defect Detection System (RDDS): Developed for Hong Kong’s Highways Department, this AI-driven system identifies road defects using GeoAI technology, enabling efficient road maintenance by automatically detecting cracks and discolored markings. This system supports predictive maintenance and reduces inspection times, contributing to safer and more resilient road networks.
  • Underground Utilities Information System (UUIS): Developed for the Lands Department of Hong Kong, this platform is a comprehensive database of underground utilities (water, sewage, drains, electricity and gas) across Hong Kong, presented in 2D and 3D GIS formats. Using a common data sharing standard, this web-based system enables stakeholders to store, visualize and retrieve 3D data efficiently, facilitating cross-industry collaboration in utility management.
