Planting trees to support Singapore’s greener future

Over 40 AECOM colleagues, family members and friends came together at Malcolm Park on October 26 for a meaningful tree-planting event aimed at contributing to a greener and more sustainable future. The initiative was funded through registration donations from the FastTrack CityHack Singapore 2022, a hackathon organized by AECOM to inspire innovation in urban sustainability.

Participants planted native tree species such as Dendrolobium umbellatum ‘aurea,’ Kopsia spp., Cratoxylum maingayi, and Ardisia elliptica. This activity reflects AECOM’s commitment to sustainability and giving back to the community while supporting national environmental goals.

This tree planting effort aligns with Singapore’s OneMillionTrees movement, a nationwide initiative led by NParks to plant one million trees by 2030, bringing Singapore’s total tree count to over eight million. Launched in April 2020, the movement is part of NParks’ “City in Nature” vision, which aims to enhance urban greenery, foster biodiversity and build resilience to climate change. By planting trees in streetscapes, parks, nature reserves and park connectors, the initiative works to create a more livable and sustainable urban environment.
