DALLAS (February 19, 2024) AECOM, the trusted global infrastructure leader, today announced it has been awarded a $27 million environmental generalist services contract by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) District 4. This contract marks the largest environmental services contract Caltrans has awarded to AECOM, solidifying AECOM’s position as a leading partner in delivering innovative and sustainable solutions for California’s infrastructure.

Under this single-award contract, AECOM will provide a wide range of environmental services for transportation projects in the North San Francisco Bay Area across Marin, Sonoma, Napa, and Solano counties. These services include CEQA/NEPA impact assessments; technical studies on natural resources, sea level rise, air quality, noise, and local communities; regulatory permitting; construction compliance monitoring; mitigation support; and community outreach and engagement. The AECOM team includes several local small and disadvantaged business enterprises subconsultants, contributing to the project’s support for economic development within the region.

The North San Francisco Bay Area encompasses some of California’s most iconic and scenic roadways, including the Pacific Coast Highway, Napa and Sonoma wine regions, redwood forests, and critical corridors for inter- and intrastate movement and commerce. These areas face aging infrastructure, increasing transportation capacity demands that are challenging to balance within environmentally sensitive areas, and growing threats from sea level rise, coastal erosion, wildfires, and intensifying winter storms.
