AECOM provided project management, cost management, MEP design, specialist lighting, traffic engineering, crowd flow and procurement management services for ICD-Brookfield Place, a premier workplace in Dubai, UAE. Officially completed in 2018, this development is a significant addition to Dubai’s commercial landscape.
Enhancing commercial spaces
ICD-Brookfield Place is a vibrant public space designed to seamlessly integrate with its surroundings, offering tenants a variety of amenities and serving as a unique civic destination. The project, a joint venture between the Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD) and Brookfield, began in 2015 and came to an end in 2018. It is designed to achieve USGBC LEED Gold certification for Shell and Core 2009.
Design achievements
The development features a Prismatic Tower with 53 floors and a height of 290 meters, accompanied by a 7-level basement for parking and service rooms. The project boasts several innovative features, including a cantilevering canopy, summer gardens and office terraces and sky gardens for executive offices. These elements, along with first-class amenities, retail spaces and dining options, create a lively and functional environment for tenants.
Safety first
Safety was a top priority throughout the project. A dedicated safety officer was on-site weekly to conduct safety walks, attend meetings and perform audits. AECOM implemented LifeGuard, its online communication platform for proactive safety, health and environmental (SH&E) monitoring and reporting. The tool enabled employees to report observations directly from project sites or offices, helping to identify and mitigate potential hazards before they posed a risk. This safety culture contributed to the achievement of 15 million hours without a lost time incident.
