Supporting governments meet their climate goals through technical, financial and legal expertise
Combining the strengths of three world-leading organizations – AECOM, Climate Policy Initiative, and Pollination – the Global NDC Implementation Partners (GNIplus) is a consortium that provides governments with the best available technical, policy, financial, governance, and legal expertise to support the reduction of carbon emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change.
In 2015, the Paris Climate Agreement set out a global framework to avoid dangerous climate change by limiting global warming to well below 2°C and pursuing efforts to limit it to 1.5°C. The agreement requests that each country outlines and communicates their post-2020 climate actions, known as their nationally determined contributions (NDCs).
Established to support nations in achieving their NDCs, the GNIplus model aims to support governments as they work to mobilize private investment and create long-term, sustainable growth and development.
By delivering practical, concrete actions in multiple geographies, GNIplus can help reform legal, policy, financial, institutional, and governance frameworks; stress-test the designs of infrastructure projects; and develop financial tools and instruments to de-risk investment and mobilize private finance at scale.
GNIplus maximizes impact by building on its partners existing collaborations with governments, multilateral agencies, and private investors to facilitate climate action by enhancing current national strategies and initiatives.
