Press Release

AECOM announced today that it was selected as a finalist in the 2015 PR News CSR Awards for Sustainability Report of the Year.

Recognizing outstanding sustainability and corporate social responsibility reports for shareholders and key constituents, the designation honors AECOM’s most recent sustainability report, “Managing complexity, building better lives.”

“Through this interactive report, we are inviting our stakeholders to the conversation and aim to deepen our relationship with employees, clients, nongovernmental organizations, investors and our communities,” said Gary Lawrence, vice president and chief sustainability officer.  “It is an evolving story that we look to improve upon each year and work hard to engage in conversation not just once a year, but throughout the entire year.”

The report features a broad mix of AECOM’s key projects and initiatives designed to improve lives around the world:

  • Strumosa Urban Agriculture and Waste Drop-off Centre, South Africa: As the first of its kind in South Africa, the center incorporates an interconnected system optimizing the use of waste and water to create jobs, improve the livelihood of local community members and boost the country’s economy in the long term.
  • The River of Life, Malaysia: To help Kuala Lumpur progress toward becoming one of the most livable cities in the world, AECOM was selected as a finalist in the “River of Life” competition to further develop the company’s existing master plan submission to rejuvenate the Klang River and its surrounding area into an iconic waterway.
  • The impact of climate change and population growth in the United States: AECOM analyzed the potential long-term implications of climate change and population growth on the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s National Flood Insurance Program in the United States.
  • Townsville Port Access Road, Australia: AECOM helped to develop a freight-efficient, strategic road link to the Port of Townsville that successfully embodies the three pillars of sustainability — social, economic and environmental — and aims to support significant regional economic development over the next 20 to 25 years.
  • Masdar Siemens Headquarters Building, United Arab Emirates: Aiming to help Masdar City achieve its goal to become a sustainable, low-carbon city, this is the first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design project in the United Arab Emirates to achieve a Platinum rating.
