AECOM appoints John Jessen managing principal of Buildings + Places, Washington metro area and mid-Atlantic region

WASHINGTON (June 5, 2017) — AECOM, a premier, fully integrated global infrastructure firm, announced today that John Jessen, AIA, has been named regional managing principal for the Washington metro area and mid-Atlantic region of its Buildings + Places business, part of AECOM’s Design and Consulting Services Group (DCS), effective immediately.

In this role, Mr. Jessen will be responsible for leadership and growth of the firm’s regional architecture, engineering, interiors, planning and consulting strategy business. He will also focus on further strengthening AECOM’s reputation as a design-led, fully integrated multidisciplinary firm.

Mr. Jessen joins AECOM with 30 years of diverse project experience encompassing the disciplines of architecture, interior design, planning and programming. A recognized thought leader in particle therapy design, Mr. Jessen previously served as senior principal of Stantec’s Washington, D.C., business center and formerly led Stantec’s Particle Therapy center of excellence in Washington.

AECOM’s Buildings + Places business is responsible for numerous iconic and innovative design projects including the recently completed Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California, lauded as a game-changer in arena design and the first LEED Platinum-certified indoor arena in the world; the Army National Guard Headquarters in Arlington, Virginia; multiple buildings for NASA at the Langley Research Center, Hampton, Virginia; Mary Catherine Bunting Center at Mercy Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland; the award-winning Liberty Park at the World Trade Center, New York; among many others.

Mr. Jessen will be based out of AECOM’s Washington and Arlington, Virginia, offices.
