NEW YORK (January 29, 2024) –AECOM, the world’s trusted infrastructure consulting firm, announced the appointment of three executives within its Construction Management business to new national leadership roles in key market sectors. Corissa Smith, executive vice president, Ken Johnson, executive vice president, and Jerry Sheets, senior vice president, will manage the business’s pursuits and projects in its core convention center, sports, and aviation market sectors, respectively. Together, they will advance the Company’s ability to scale its industry-leading capabilities in each sector across key urban markets and deliver on its clients’ increasingly sophisticated project ambitions.

Each of these Market Sector Leaders will be responsible for developing strategies for growth; managing ongoing projects across multiple geographies; spearheading new project pursuits; and managing project teams and clients. Collectively, they have more than a century of experience and have led the construction of numerous major projects. Their roles will continue to advance AECOM’s Construction Management business in the sports, aviation, and convention center sectors, which currently includes the new Tennessee Titans Stadium, a massive renovation of Beaver Stadium on the Penn State University campus, the new Terminal 6 at JFK Airport, new Terminal 5 at FLL Airport, and expansion projects at the Las Vegas and Fort Worth Convention Centers.
Ms. Smith’s construction industry expertise spans more than 27 years. Throughout her career, she has been instrumental in leading large, complex projects, and has largely focused on delivering new convention centers and renovations within operational facilities. Ms. Smith is highly engaged on the strategic planning process and offers guidance on project planning, communication, and resource allocation to ensure the project is planned, communicated, and executed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality. Her past work has included large-scale convention center expansions in Phoenix, Sacramento, San Jose, San Fransisco (Moscone) and San Antonio (Henry B. Gonzalez).
Mr. Johnson, a 28-year veteran at AECOM Hunt, is one of the firm’s leading experts in sports venue construction, helping to establish the firm as the nation’s #1 ranked sports builder. His resume includes iconic stadium and arena projects for dozens of professional sports teams including: the Washington Nationals, New York Mets, St. Louis Cardinals, Miami Marlins and Los Angeles Dodgers. He has also completed multiple collegiate level stadiums and large-scale venues such as the United States Tennis Center in Flushing, NY; Citrus Bowl Stadium in Orlando, FL; and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the Indy 500.
Mr. Sheets possesses more than three decades of expertise leading complex aviation projects around the world. His work has guided the successful development and renovation of airports, including taxiway/terminal aprons, terminal renovations, and expansions, upgraded baggage handling systems, as well as landside civil works and parking garages. Key highlights of his work include JFK’s Terminal 6; new terminal constructions in FLL (Fort Lauderdale), MSY (New Orleans), DIA (Doha, Qatar), AUH (Abu Dhabi), RDU (Raleigh, NC), CLE (Cleveland), DCA (Washington DC), Chicago O’Hare’s Terminal 5; and renovations in SJU (San Juan, Puerto Rico) and BUR (Burbank, CA).
Ms. Smith, Mr. Johnson, and Mr. Sheets’ positions are effective immediately.
