The company’s project management team for the Airport Expansion program at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., participated in the annual “Christmas in July” fundraiser event to benefit homeless children living in Broward County.

On the day of the event, each child received a personalized gift package containing undergarments, clothes, food, toys and school supplies donated by participants. AECOM donated more than 1,000 pieces of undergarments to the program that is sponsored by Broward County and Kiwanis Divisions 23 and 24.

“We were elated to give back to our community through this year’s Christmas in July initiative, which is all about bringing smiles to children’s faces,” says Miriam Gerov, senior project manager for AECOM’s expansion program and event coordinator. “We wholeheartedly understand the importance of helping those in need and are looking forward to participating in other charitable events in the Broward County area.”

More then 2,000 students enrolled in Broward County Public Schools list an area homeless shelter as their home address – a number which has dramatically increased in recent years. Since its founding in 2002, the Christmas in July event aims to support these children with essentials supplies while providing a day of fun.
