Press Release

June 23, 2015

AECOM has announced that it is donating more than $50,000 to the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) to support the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Program at the Willie L. Brown Jr. Middle School.

News

AECOM made the announcement locally at a charity benefit on June 18 that it co-sponsored with the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission to celebrate the scheduled fall opening of the school.

AECOM’s donation reflects the company’s commitment to community involvement and furthering STEM education, which aligns with San Francisco Mayor Edwin Lee’s efforts to improve the quality of public education within the city’s most economically disadvantaged communities.

The Willie L. Brown Jr. Middle School is the first SFUSD school aligned with the internationally benchmarked “Next Generation Science Standards.”

The local announcement was made a day before the 83rd Annual Meeting of the U.S Conference of Mayors in San Francisco, where mayors convened to discuss the challenges facing the nation’s cities and their metropolitan areas.
