AECOM has announced that Matthew Sutton has been named chief executive of the company’s environment business line.

(LOS ANGELES) AECOM Technology Corporation, a leading global provider of professional technical and management support services for government and commercial clients, has announced that Matthew Sutton has been named chief executive of the company’s environment business line

Former environment chief executive Bob Weber transitioned into a new role as chief operating officer of AECOM’s worldwide business lines October 1.

In this new role, Sutton oversees global management, executive strategy and business operations of AECOM’s environmental management flagship organization with 4,500 environmental professionals executing projects in 100 countries. Sutton joined AECOM in April as deputy chief executive from Arcadis, an international, design, engineering and management consultancy, where he was executive vice president and director of operations and led the site evaluation/ remediation and sediments business.

Previously, Sutton was president and chief operating officer of LFR, a global environmental consulting firm acquired in 2008. During his 28-year career, Sutton held senior and executive management positions in operations and business development with leading environmental engineering firms. He also served as principal chemical engineer, director of engineering, research and development, and innovation. 

With extensive experience in alternative delivery services, performance-based contracting, and integrating operations, he has worked with public and private sector clients, managing delivery of environmental services in the Americas, Asia, Europe and Africa. Sutton recently returned from China, where he was invited to high-level talks with the deputy minister of environmental protection on advancing air pollution control, hazardous waste management and worker health and safety in regulatory regimes.
