Las Vegas Convention Center Celebrates Completion of Transformative 3.2 Million-Square-Foot Renovation

News

State-of-the-art innovations and enhanced guest experience support the venue’s continued success as a leading global event destination.

Las Vegas, NV (January 6, 2025) — Today, The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and Joint Venture construction management firms AECOM Hunt and The PENTA Building Group (Hunt-PENTA) marked the official completion of the Las Vegas Convention Center’s (LVCC) transformative renovation with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Tourism leaders, local elected officials, project leads from Hunt-PENTA, and many of the skilled trades workers who helped deliver the two-year project were present to commemorate the ribbon cutting.

Launched in 2023, the 3.2 million square foot renovation encompassed the Central, North, and South Halls, and introduced a new, expansive 100,000 square foot Grand Lobby featuring advanced digital wayfinding.

The center features state-of-the-art spaces, modernized building systems, enhanced acoustics and digital signage, upgraded technology features, and an overall elevated guest experience. Throughout the project, the construction team ensured events and operations were able to continue, maintaining uninterrupted, high-quality event experiences simultaneous to construction progress.

One of the nation’s premiere convention centers, the LVCC hosts many of the country’s largest and most significant tradeshows, including SEMA, CES, World of Concrete and CONEXPO – CON/AGG. In 2024, Las Vegas welcomed 6 million convention attendees, and the convention segment supported $16 billion in economic impact to Southern Nevada. The renovation’s completion marks the start of a strong event lineup for 2026. The LVCC is on pace to host upwards of 48 tradeshows and 1.23 million tradeshow attendees in 2026.

“Long held as one of the nation’s leading convention centers, this project will set the Las Vegas center apart even further, for decades to come,” said Joe Eckhart, Vice President & Convention Center Market Lead, AECOM Hunt. “Over the past two years, we’ve seen an extraordinary level of collaboration, planning and execution. Delivering a renovation of this skill – while keeping the convention center fully operational – required the coordination of hundreds of professionals. We’re incredibly proud to have executed such a remarkable project and to have helped bring this world-class center into its next era of success.”

“Today’s celebration marks the successful completion of a transformative project for the Las Vegas Convention Center and our city,” said John Cannito, President and CEO of The PENTA Building Group. “This renovation reflects the dedication and craftsmanship of our trade partners and project teams, and it positions Las Vegas to continue leading as a world-class destination for conventions, events and economic growth. We are proud to have partnered with the LVCVA and AECOM Hunt to deliver a facility that will serve our community for many years ahead.”
