We have updated the masterplan for a major logistics hub near Paris, France – enabling the client to meet the latest quality and environmental standards.

Garonor is a private commercial park and logistics hub situated near Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris. With direct access to two motorways – the A1 and A3 – the hub serves as a gateway to the country’s largest consumer zone, the Île-de-France.

We were appointed by Logicor, a leading owner, manager and developer of European logistics real estate, to design a new masterplan for the 65-hectare site part of a wider scheme to transform the site.

What is AECOM’s role in the Garonor development?

Drawing on our multidisciplinary expertise, we’re providing a holistic scope of services on this ongoing project. These span urban master planning, early-stage architectural design and branding, landscape design, and mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) engineering, due diligence, compliance and site assessment.

In developing the new masterplan, we have made sure to address each of the client’s key objectives in the design, including:

  • To improve the quality and number of services dedicated to the logistics chain.
  • To create a more secure and user-friendly site.
  • To increase the capacity of warehouses, delivery services and offices.
  • To ease access within the park.
  • To upgrade the logistics park to align with the latest quality standards, as well as environmental, social and governance (ESG) targets.

The challenge

The main challenge for us on this project has been to meet the ambitious goals set out by the client, whilst keeping our services within a reasonable timeframe and budget.

To navigate this effectively, it was essential to establish an honest dialogue between the team and the client from the outset.

Thanks to our various initiatives such as engaging the client during workshops in a co-design approach, we’ve managed to maintain this trust and communication throughout the delivery process.

Creating a flagship logistics hub for the French capital

Increasing energy efficiency, reducing carbon emissions, and upgrading the facilities to align with the latest quality and ESG standards are among Logicor’s key objectives for this project.

By bringing together a range of multidisciplinary experts, we are helping the client to achieve their goals – creating a modern, efficient and sustainable logistics hub that can keep pace with future demand.
