Good Samaritan Hospital’s vision and priorities for the BEACON project – “Building Excellence Around Communities, Opportunities & Needs” – included an expansion and enhancement of its inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation programs.
In the largest single project in the 104-year history of Good Samaritan Hospital, AECOM Hunt served as CM for this complex hospital addition, which included a new cardiac center, energy plant and support services buildings totaling 201,700 SF. The project also included 118,862 SF of phased renovations of key healthcare service areas.
One of the greatest challenges was keeping the facility operational throughout all phases of construction, with critical concerns including site utilities, site parking and traffic circulation, all of utmost importance in maintaining a great relationship with the community. Careful planning and extensive use of BIM provided us with valuable insight into phasing and logistics before work began.
