AECOM Hunt served as construction manager for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s (IMS) Project 100. IMS is a historic icon in Indiana and the racing world. The project involved years of planning to achieve its goals while meeting its budget.
Renovations were comprised of upgrading 50 concession stands to include counter adjustments for ADA, painted exteriors and interiors, signage, and new food service equipment; restrooms were upgraded to include new plumbing fixtures, toilet partitions, lighting, and interior painting; grandstands E, A, and B and Paddock Penthouses were upgraded to include a new higher canopy and three additional rows of seating; and the Hulman Suite area at Grandstand C was renovated to include nine suites with modern finishes, ADA-accessible restrooms, and stadium seating with cup holders. In addition, the iconic front straight pylon videoboards were replaced with state-of-the-art LED boards which offer significant scoreboard and race status information, making videoboards accessible to all.
All work was completed on time for the 100th Indy 500, which was attended by record crowds.
