Developed on Bouyban Island off the coast of Iraq, Mubarak Al Kabeer Port was instigated by Kuwait’s Ministry of Public Works in an attempt to re-establish Kuwait as a renowned shipping hub.
In addition to carrying out a feasibility study, AECOM developed the design of a deep water navigation channel for the new port.
Although faced with the challenging prospect of dredging soft and muddy land, our multi-disciplinary team of experts was able to create simple solutions to the most complex of problems.

The port will allow for easier access to the Red Sea and will rejuvenate Kuwait’s role as a primary shipping port.
