Working closing with Rio Tinto on projects within their mines, smelters and refineries, AECOM was commissioned to complete a pre-feasibility study for Rio Tinto Aluminium for the Yarwun Hydrate Stockpile Upgrade. The Yarwun Alumina Refinery is undertaking a capital project at the calciner area to upgrade the existing hydrate stockpile which will improve reliability of the facility infrastructure and protect the hydrate quality.
This project consists of a material handling facility with a proposed 100 metre by 50 metre pad, with the intention of building a shed that moves the hydrate from the plant to the shed.
Due to its sticky nature, the material is difficult to handle so AECOM produced a design for a conveyor system that makes the product easier to transport.
AECOM have illustrated an ability to meet all necessary deadlines; focused on robust risk management, based on previous experience and an open book approach to identification and mitigation/management etc.
