AECOM Hunt is serving as construction manager for the University of Texas at Arlington Science and Engineering Innovation and Research Building, a 229,000-square-foot, six-level building. The facility will be comprised of a four-story research wing, two-story classroom wing with over 21,000 square feet of classroom space and 900 seats, a basement level laboratory space, as well as a bridge over the pedestrian plaza connecting the SEIR building to the existing engineering building.
The laboratory wing will feature glass interior walls facing into the atrium space, creating visibility into the research being conducted. The facility will also include dedicated laboratory facilities built with vibration-resistant structures allowing for the use of highly sensitive research equipment.
The facility was designed and will be constructed using sustainable practices including high energy efficiency heating and cooling systems, water conservation practices, and sustainable materials for interior finishes and flooring.
