Summer Internship in Taiwan:
A journey of growth

Since 2015, AECOM in Taiwan has dedicated itself to our Summer Internship program, led by a team of professionals from five business lines (BL): Buildings+Places (B+P), EIA & Monitoring (EM), Remediation (RE), Transportation (TRA), and Water (WAT). The program offers interns a unique learning experience to aid their careers journey.

Our mentorship team meticulously designs each course to help students acquire firsthand experience and gain insights into their potential field of work. We integrate the latest business developments with practical workplace experiences, while still being flexible to changes in the industry and current events.

Students also learn about AECOM’s works and how we embed our Sustainable Legacies strategy in all that we do through various Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives and policies, as well as Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (ED&I) activities.

We are passionate about this our key annual initiatives, believing that a diverse and inclusive team enables everyone to reach their fullest potential, and build a better world together.

Comprehensive multidisciplinary training

Weekly specialized courses providing professional knowledge and practical skills in fields such as environmental monitoring, soil and groundwater remediation, water services, architectural design, and transportation were held. Carefully planned by mentors, these sessions utilized relevant materials, software, and learning tools, complemented by site visits, to inspire learning and build a strong professional foundation.

By integrating engaging topics with group discussions, we facilitated a two-way exchange of knowledge. This approach not only gave the students a better understanding of our company and an introduction to the industry, helping them prepare for entering the workforce, but also allowed us to learn about the younger generation’s vision for the future workplace. This mutual understanding enriched both parties, fostering a deeper connection and shared insights.

The finale: Presenting the ESG Development Blueprint

The final week of the internship program culminated in an engaging workshop where interns were divided into groups to present on “The New Generation ESG Development Blueprint for Songshan Airport.” Guided by mentors from various business lines, they used their academic knowledge and the skills acquired during the internship to assess, plan, and explore the airport’s buildings and environment. Through interdisciplinary teamwork, they tackled the complex topic, demonstrating excellent problem analysis skills and came up with innovative solutions.

Fostering connections through interdisciplinary exchange

Through interactions with the mentors, colleagues, and peers, interns gained insights into various professional fields and workplace dynamics. This program also let our team understand better our new generation over a series of diverse and interdisciplinary activities, fully exemplifying the spirit of mutual learning and growth.
